To discuss oddities about me that might make you appear more normal

A little more about me, for Get to Know Me week (as if you didn't know enough already).

Odd things about me:
  • I can't stand peas or beans. But, even more, I can't tolerate bananas (the fruit, not artificial flavoring). Bananas make me gag. Literally.
  • When moving around in the shower, I only turn counter-clockwise, and I have no idea why.
  • I am not scared of any animals/insects- I won't not do something out of fear of some bug or critter. But I am scared of shark attacks-- and I live in Pennsylvania... and love sharks.
  • When I'm interested in a new hobby/possible purchase, I will research it ad nauseum, for days on end.
  • I have trouble remembering people's names, but wonder why they can't remember mine.
  • I don't like gum.
  • If I unintentionally form a habit of doing something- the order I get ready in morning, for example- I'll get self-conscious about it and continue to do it out of superstition, even if I don't really believe in superstition.
  • When I perform for theater/live shows, I sing the same song right before I go on, every time (theater, on the other hand, is built on superstition)- Ella Fitzgerald's "Our Love is Here to Stay." I also make sure my fly isn't down, even if I'm wearing tights.
  • I'm ambidextrous, but only in some things- I write right-handed (because that's how I was taught). I shoot a basketball and throw a football left-handed. I bat and throw a baseball right-handed. I eat some foods left-handed.
  • I can't roll my R's.
  • I have a double-jointed middle finger.
  • I have an indentation in my chest on the breastbone area (always have)
What about you?

Those are odd things indeed. Would you freak out if you accidentally turned clockwise in the shower?

Verification word: "comando". Sweet.

You sound like the Pretend Husband, who doesn't like beans either except if they are green or part of this dish but not that dish or if they are not bean-ish in any way. Tell Capricorn I feel her pain.

And the shower thing? How in the world did you ever even realize you only turn in one direction? Weird.

Aine- If you were going commando today, that would be even better. And no, I wouldn't freak out.
Far- I use Tic Tacs, when needed. I don't like how gum runs out of taste so quickly- you feel like you're a cow chewing cud.
KAT- About six months ago, I realized that I had subconsciously refused to let myself turn to my right to grab a shampoo bottle. Then I realized I ALWAYS do that.

I love bananas, but artificial banana flavor makes me want to die.

Hey! We have the same kinda-ambidextrous thing going on!!! (I did a post about it a while ago called, "Yes, I'm Bi"). I just KNEW we were soulmates!

I am afraid to look into empty swimming pools.

Also, I am imagining you in tights right now.

The last one...one side of my breast bone is higher than the other (laying down). Not good for bras with structure.

I can't stand peas or beans either. It's a little weird about the bananas thing though.

mmm, well, that I have a phobia about birds. Like I think they'll peck my eyeballs out. A 4 oz. birdie cornered me in my restaurant today and I thought I was a goner for sure. All this while my bartender looked at me like I had taken a hit off a crackpipe. :) That's odd right?

I love frozen bananas or bananas that just turned yellow. I don't like em to mush in my mouth.

I'm left-handed, but I bat and golf right handed.

I've seen you in tights and I don't think I have any pictures of it.

I can wiggle my ears.

That's funny, I have a protruding breastbone (1st rib). It's pretty freaky-looking.

Maybe you have a funny-shaped sternum.

Have tried so damn hard to learn how to roll my R's and my tongue will just NOT obey!

I'm not into bananas either. Also scared of shark attacks, and will also research purchases ad nauseum. I'd love to be ambidextrous; guess that's where we differ.

Banana's are one of the most disgusting things ever! Even the smell makes me sick.

I'm allergic to beans and peas so obviously I don't eat them. hmmm... no beans or bananas at your house... I may just have to show up at your house for dinner!

I was almost sick of reading everyone's Thanksgiving stories, but I decided I was willing to read one more. Lucky you, your's ones the one I chose to read. I always have to laugh when I hear about people having more than one Thanksgiving/Christmas/major holiday dinner. I couldn't imagine eating that much.
Thanks again for the link! I think you're right that we could be very good blog friends. I'm looking forward to it!

Umm... everything about me is fabulous and wonderful and just makes me even more awesome than I was yesterday...

And I am NOT afraid of heights! (But I am TOTALLY afraid of "edges"-- edge of a building, edge of a cliff, anything high and edge-y.)

Also? I only like mostly green bananas, I hate spiders in practice though not in theory, and I remember too much about nearly everything, to the point it freaks people out.
